today in class we started by getting our test back. in did good on mine I got a B. which is good but I should have studied a little more. Then we talked a little about exams and how we should study the test we have because the same questions will be on the exam we take and the exam is worth 20% of our grade. Then we went back to our notes. We learned about why people migrate. I learned that some push factors are. civil war, environmental degradation, unemployment or underemployment, religious or ethnic persecution. All these are examples why someone would want to leave a country and live somewhere else. We also learned about reasons why a person would be pulled toward another country. These reasons are, better economic opportunity, better health services, religious freedom, political freedom. these are all reasons why a person would be drawn toward an area.
today in class we continued to learn about population and settlement. we learned about life expectancy. life expectancy means the average number of years believed by a group of people born in the same year. some examples are, the highest is in Monaco, 89.52 total- 85.63 men and 95.58 women. U.S. #42 79.68 total- 77.32 men and 81.97 women. lowest Chad 49.81 total- 48.64 men and 51.03 women. we also learned about crude birth rate, which means the number of births per 1,000 of the population. Also we learned about the crude death rate, which means the number of deaths per 1,000 of the population. we learned about rate of natural increase which is produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate. this gives us the annual natural growth rate in percentage form-for a country or region. the net migration rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and leaving a country during a year. an excess of persons entering the country is net immigration. this is written as a
today in class we took our unit test. I think I did good on the test because I knew most of the questions and knew there answers. Last night I also studied a lot so I would be prepared for the test today. some of the questions I had trouble on but for the most part I think I did good. also I likes that we got to choose the essay question we wanted to do. I liked this because you could choose the one you thought you could do best on so you can get a good grade. I also like how the day before we come up with questions and that he let us take picture of the questions so we know what we need to study an we have time to discus them and learn them if we forgot about them.
today in class we all came up with questions that could be on the test. One question was why do US companies make their products over seas? I believe they make them over seas because there isn't minimum wages and you can pay a person way less than you have to in the US. Another question was Peter vs. Mercator map. the difference is the peter map is more accurate in the real size of all the areas then the Mercator map. Also they asked about the saying think global act local. this can be a good and helpful thing if everyone does it and an example might be you grow your own vegetables so you don't have to drive to the store and have the gas go into the air. we also talked about time zones. time zones are important so you know what's going on and the time of day in a new area you go. your circadian cycle is your biological sleeping schedule. there are 27 time zones around the world. what 3 countries have the largest population. they are China, India, and US. the prime meridian
I was late for school today so I missed class.
today in class we started by meeting the shadows. Then we talked about why he missed class yesterday. He missed class because his dog was sick and he had to put him down. I liked how he made his dogs last day a really good and fun. Then he showed us  pictures of her and she was so cute. While we where talking about this it was so cute and made me cry. Then we all started talking about our dogs and some sad dog stories. Then we started talking about businesses and I learned about how a kid in our class his dad owns a company that does window candles that are built into the wall so there isn't any wires. we talked about how his business is over seas.
today we had a sub, so we did work on our laptops. We took notes on the information on the blog. I learned that contemporary geographers offer a different version of the phrase "think and act both global and local". I also learned all scales from local to global are important in geography. Contemporary geography matters because it can explain human actions at all scales. At national and international scales, geography is concerned with rapid population growth. Lastly I learned about Globalization. One definition of globalization is extending to other or all parts of the world. Another definition is worldwide integration and development.
today in class we learned  how doing things locally can help globally. For example you can grow our own food and be helping the world because your not using any gas that pollutes the air, that is being used hen you drive to the grocery store. Also we learned that at the global scale, encompassing the entire world, geographers tend to see broad patterns. We learned that geography matters in the contemporary world because it can explain human action at all scales. Lastly I learned that in rural areas they tend to vote republican and democratic in urban areas.
Today in class we walked in and got surprised with a pop quiz. The quiz was pretty easy but I didn't remember all of it. But for the most part I think I  did good on the quiz. After the quiz we looked at the CIA website that gave us a lot of in formation about the countries around the world. Then we looked at the top 25 countries around the world and we labeled them on the map. It is important to know where these countries are because it is important to know about the important countries in the world and where they are located.

time

Today in class I learned and thought about many new things. In class we talked about time and how it is different all over the world and just across different states in the U.S. Also I learned what a circadian cycle is. It is the pattern of you waking up and going to sleep on a schedule based on the time it is. We also talked about Fleming who was wanted to have everyone have the same time all over the world in 1879. He wanted the clock to be at the center of the Earth. It would be a global 24hr clock and everyone would be on the same clock. Lastly around the 1900 all the time on Earth was in the form of standard time zone. No matter where you were you knew the zone and the time it was supposed to be. I learned a lot about time in class today.
Yesterday I missed class because I was sick. Today in class I got caught up on what we where doing yesterday. We where learning about the parties the states vote for. Also we learned about the regions of the U.S. and how they vote. This helps us understand the regions and the way the elections work. Also I learned that if you have the most electoral votes than you will win the election, even if you don't have the most single person votes. The region of the U.S. can also tell us more independent states like Texas where they have there own region. From the regions like New England where there made up of many states. Whether a region votes Democratic or Republic can tell you alloy about it. Also a state most of the area vote for one party, But there is a bog city that votes the other party so the other party wins. So not the majority of the area might not get what they want.
